Am I really driving across state lines for another chance to steal some alone time with Sebastian Alex?

Yes, I am.

And I have absolutely no shame.

I was careful to avoid slipping the truth to Joseline, instead telling her I’m headed to spend the weekend at my parents’ house. She’d kill me if she knew what I was up to, mainly because she isn’t here with me to make sure I don’t get into trouble.

Even though we’re the same age, she often acts like the older sibling I never had, always making sure that I’m safe. Being the oldest of three siblings, I never knew what it was like to have a protector. Someone to look out for me. That was always my responsibility, taking care of my siblings. Having someone do the same for me is nice, and I try not to take it for granted.

Except when I have to tell her little white lies, like today.

It’s not that I didn’t want to make the drive with her, or that I was against spending time with her. Quite the opposite actually. There’s no one I would rather make a multi-hour road trip with, but I couldn’t drag her with me this time. I feel guilty enough about making her wait for me after the last concert while I was meeting Rhage. I can’t ask that of her again, especially considering it would be for much longer this time.

The worst part is, I know she’d do it if I asked her to.

Joseline does too much for me. She’s always encouraged my crazy, last-minute ideas, tagged along to places she didn’t want to go, and supported me when she thought I was wasting my time. Like the mask-making contest. If I asked her to ride with me and find something to do while I enjoyed my front row ticket and backstage pass to see Rhage, she would do it.

Every time I turn around, I feel like I owe her a million more favors, even though she never complains or asks to be repaid.

This is one thing—an absolutely insane thing—that I don’t want to owe her for.

I can say I’ve done some stupid things for dick before, but this is by far the stupidest… and I’m not even getting dick. I’m doing all this for a chance at more alone time and conversation, in the hopes that it will be worth it.

I’m certain it will be.

A few seconds with Sebastian are better than any length of time without him.

Besides, he’s a rockstar, and rockstars have a reputation of hooking up with fans. I doubt Sebastian Alex has plans to fuck me after his concert today, but maybe he’ll drag me into a darkened corner for a panty-melting make out session. Or something more.

A girl can hope.
